Welcome to our Art Retreat in Paris. Four wonderful days filled with inspiration, creativity and the undeniable charm of this wonderful city. Escape the ordinary and discover the artistic soul of Paris on this unique trip. Together we will embark on a journey of discovery to the treasures of this city, including visits to world-renowned museums that will fuel our creative fire.
But that's not all. In the afternoons we will take our paints and brushes to the 'Jardin des Tuileries', where we will be inspired by this beautiful park that is surrounded by stately buildings in the distance. The other painting locations will also surprise you with their unique Parisian atmosphere.

What you can expect:
Musem explorations: Dive deep into art with visits to renowned museums.
Creative Sessions: Bring your inspiration to life in the afternoons while we paint based on assignments around the exhibitions we have visited and inspired by the wonderful places where we will paint.
Memento: Collect daily memorabilia, from metro tickets to restaurant napkins, and create small artworks that reflect our Parisian experience.
Photography & Prints: Capture our most memorable moments through photography and create prints that immortalize the timeless beauty of Paris
Art Journal: Wrap up the retreat by collectively crafting a beautiful art journal, where all our creations and gathered treasures come together.

Art Retreat Paris

This includes:
For dinner you can choose what works best for you. For example, you can get a tasty wrap or meal salad from a food truck and eat it in one of the many parks. Or the participants can arrange to have dinner together in a restaurant. I have noticed that the energy levels of students can be quite different while traveling, this way everyone can decide for themselves.

check-out after breakfast (before noon).
You can of course arrange an extension of this trip yourself before or after the Art Retreat.
The Art Reteat fare does not include your trip to Paris or transfer to the hotel.
From 4 months before the trip you can book the cheapest train tickets with Eurostar (Thalys). One-way ticket from Rotterdam is approximately €45. These tickets can still be canceled free of charge up to one week before the trip*.
* Eurostar website: Exchange your tickets free of charge up to 7 days before your departure time (after that a surcharge of € 15 per person per journey applies). You only pay the fare difference. Your route/destination must remain the same. If you decide not to travel, a refund is possible up to 7 days before your departure time. After this date your tickets cannot be refunded.
We will stay at hotel Reims in Rue D'aubervilliers, close to Metro station Riquet (2 min with metro from Gare du Nord, or a 1,3km walk).
You can also book your own hotelroom in the 19th arrondissement.
Without the hotel, the fare for the Art Retreat is € 960,-

Any cancellation made after March 12, 2024 will not be refunded unless someone else takes your place.

FAQs
Do I need to take out travel and cancellation insurance?
We strongly recommend that you arrange travel and cancellation insurance.
Are we going to walk a lot?
We go to different locations every day by metro. That still means quite a lot of walking.
And you often see the nicest things whem walking, so be prepared for around 12,000 steps a day.
Can I extend my trip?
You can arrange that by yourself.
We are staying at the Reims hotel on Rue D'aubervilliers in the 19th arrondissement.
That's an 18-minute walk from the Gare du Nord (or 2 minutes by metro plus a 4-minute walk).
What paint are we going to use?
We are going to paint with acrylic paint because it dries nice and quickly.
We work on thick paper that does not bubble when it gets wet. And we're going to work with collage.
What should I bring myself?
The most important painting materials will be present.
A few weeks before the Retreat, you will receive an email with things you can still take with you.
This mainly involves your favorite brushes, a paper pad and possibly drawing pens.

Meet your teacher
Marieke Kamperman is a painter and interior designer, she lives and works in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Marieke teaches painting in workshops and with e-courses. After participating in many different Art Retreats, she started organizing painting trips herself in 2017.
Her previous 12 Art Retreats were very well received, because she enjoys helping people bring out the best in themselves. Painting is her passion and she finds painting together with other artists the most fun there is.
